No more store hopping
Getting deals and bargains can be time-consuming. Every week, stores run sales on different items, leaving the average bargain hunter to store hop from place to place to get the best deal. But a new initiative by some big box stores now makes one-stop shopping easier—price matching.
Every Sunday afternoon, I sit down with all the store inserts and look for sale prices on items that will be on my shopping list. Then when I hit the store, I show my printed advertisement from that week at a competing store to get the best price. It’s pretty easy to do and can save you a bundle of money. Here’s the scoop on two popular places to shop:
Target recently began offering their “Low Price Promise” to shoppers. The Target website says, “If you find an item in a competitor's printed ad that is priced lower than it is at your Target store, we will match the price. The competitor's ad must be local and current, and the product must be the identical item, brand name, quantity, and model number.”
Just take your current competitor ad to the customer service desk and request the price match. For more details on Target’s price match policy including rules and stipulations, click here.
Walmart also offers an “Ad Match Guarantee” to shoppers. The website says, “We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.” Walmart’s price matching policy does have rules and stipulations. Here are a few other stores that also offer price matching. Click the store name below to see the price match policy for the retailer:
Just remember, always read the fine print of the store’s price matching policy. Many stores specify that you must match the item exactly including model number or size.
Honestly, I have had the best luck at price matching at my local Walmart. What about you—where have you successfully price-matched items? Tell us about your experience!
