Recipe: Watermelon Granita

As a kid, a cool snack was always welcomed after a day playing under the sun.  Many times, we were digging through the back of the freezer looking for our favorite ice pop colors. But there were those occasions when we were surprised with a homemade dessert.

Here is one of my favorites from those summers that I would always look forward to finding. The best part is, you’ll never need to open your oven.

 

Directions:

1.  Purée all ingredients in a blender.

2.  Pour into a 9- by 13-inch dish and place in the freezer. Stir with a fork every 30 minutes until mixture is slushy (up to 2-1/2 hours).

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 4 c. half-inch-cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons lime juice
