About this Event
Fig & Wally: bringing you speakers and topics your kids love and the amazing ones they have never heard about.
Why we love Rachel? Rachel, known as the aquatic Jane Goodall, champions kids to explore marine life and strengthen their connection with the sea.
Dr. Rachel Graham is a conservation scientist and keen diver with over 27 years of experience in development and environment projects in Latin America, Africa and Oceania. She is the founder and Executive Director of the NGO MarAlliance dedicated to the research and conservation of large marine wildlife such as sharks, rays, turtles and large finfish in several tropical countries.
Rachel has dedicated over two decades of her life to working with traditional fishers on community-based fisheries and the research and conservation of apex marine predators, fish spawning aggregations. With widely published research, her work has led to several conservation and policy wins.
In 2011, she won the Whitley Fund for Nature Gold Award for her work with sharks and communities.
She is based in Panama with her two curious and sea-loving sons and is happiest exploring underwater and sharing insights about her favorite animals and strategies to secure their future.
