Let's be Thrifty Together
Filling your calendar with memories
If you’re crafty and thrifty, you should be on Pinterest. That’s all there is to it.
In my time on Pinterest, I’ve come across so many cool ideas. Over the weeks, I’ll be sure to share the best with you.
One of my most recent projects is a calendar that allows you to record something that happened that day each year. You reuse the calendar year after year, and look back on the past years to read what you’ve done on that day. I thought it was an especially neat idea since my husband and I have been slacking on the Lil’ Stinker’s baby book.
Here’s the original Pinterest post.
And here are the materials I used:
- A cool little bin that I found in the dollar section at Target. Last I looked, they still have some.
- A pack of 40 sheets of cardstock from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. Check online as they usually have some kind of coupon each week.
- Two sheets of coordinating sparkly 11x11 cardstock. These were only 39 cents a sheet.
I also bought a set of stamps that included the months and numbers to date each card. This is optional — you always could write the date yourself.
To make the calendar, cut each sheet of the 8-1/2x11 cardstock into eight pieces. Then cut the square cardstock into 12 pieces that are slightly taller than your other pieces; these are the month dividers. Randomly sort the smaller pieces into your months, separated by a sparkly piece. Place in the bin.
To save myself time, I’m dating each card as I go rather than doing them all at once. As each day passes, write something memorable that you did that day on the card. Next year, you can look back and see what you did!
