Let's be Thrifty Together

Throw a party and get free stuff

Companies are trying everything these days to get us to notice the newest and greatest things they offer. In fact, instead of just regular old commercials or advertisements, companies are getting smarter about ways to reach out to customers directly.

Enter House Party. This online community connects name brand companies with consumers to try out new products at no charge in exchange for feedback on the item.

Here’s what the House Party website says, “House Party makes it easy to have a party in your own home and get exclusive access to awesome products for you and your friends. We provide the fun, you provide food, your friends, and feedback and promise to have an amazing time.”

To get involved, just go to www.HouseParty.com and create an account. Once you are signed, up you can apply to host a party of your choice. Then, you wait to hear if you are picked.

I was chosen to host a DiGiorno Pizza and Hoops House Party during March Madness. For my party, I was given a mini basketball hoop and ball, a fun basketball timer, score sheets for our own March Madness shoot-out, noisemakers, a DiGiorno pizza oven mitt, and a ton of coupons for free DiGiorno pizza and breadsticks. They even gave me coupons to send home with my guests.

Although the application can be lengthy, it was worth it. All I had to do was invite a certain number of people to my party through the House Party website and agree to complete a survey when the party was over. Simple as that.

House party is currently accepting applications for upcoming parties including Lego Duplo and will be opening up applications soon for parties sponsored by Fisher Price and Foster Farms.

Have you ever hosted a House Party? What did you think of the experience?

I have hosted two parties so far. My first one with with Shutterfly where my guest got free 8X8 photobooks and 10 cards and could send free 8x11 photobooks to friends (when doing so that gave them free shipping for their 8x8 book). I was so easy and all my friends and family really enjoyed it. The second party i hosted was a huggies pull-up party. They got all the potty training stuff. I had some extra from my party and i took them to my sons daycare to hand out to the kids that were potty training. I just put in my application for Lego Duplo. It's so worth it and i am always telling people about houseparty.com.... happy hosting!!!
