Tales from a Mom-to-be
Planning for the future
Ryder is already becoming a presence in our lives. We had to empty out a spare bedroom, find places for all of our junk and do some painting to make his nursery.
We painted last weekend and, let me tell you, I will never paint again! (Although that is what I said last time I painted.)
I am very thankful for the free help of Ryder’s Godmommy. She worked her magic and, with a little bit of help from me, we had a bright Kawasaki green nursery in no time!
Her generosity reconfirmed Bean Pole’s and my decision that we did, in fact, pick the right people to take over if something would ever happen to us. We chose my cousin and her husband and couldn’t be happier.
Finding a legal guardian for your child certainly isn’t an easy thing to do. There are so many qualities to choose between and trust me when I say that we have tons of family and friends that would have done a fantastic job. They have shown interest in the baby since Day 1 and are always excited to see us talk about even the unpleasant stories of my pregnancy (or at least they listen politely).
They are family, so it’s not like they wouldn’t stay in contact with our respective families and ensure the baby never lost contact.
We are just so pleased and, while we hope nothing ever happens to us, we know that our little man would be in good hands.
Did you choose guardians for your child if something were to happen and if so, what did you look for in helping you come to that conclusion?
