Tales from a Mom-to-be

Looking ahead to the final trimester

Oct 18, 2012 - 08:44 AM

I did it, I did it, and I did it! I made it to the 3rd trimester! WOO HOO. I feel like having a party! I know it isn’t something that exciting but I really feel like my time as a pregnant woman is flying by! Before I know it, Bean Pole and I will be snuggling a beautiful baby boy and cringing in the wee hours of the morning when said beautiful baby boy decides to cry and make a yucky diaper for us.

Nothing too exciting has been happening in our world other than putting together the crib that Bean Pole’s parents got us—and having maternity pictures taken. The crib is beautiful and the pictures are as well.

Bean Pole wasn’t nearly as excited as I was to have these pictures taken—boys just don’t understand these things! Our photographer was tons of fun and created some beautiful images for us to remember our first pregnancy by. Now, it is truly a waiting game in my opinion—waiting for the baby shower so I can wash lots of cute things and put them away; waiting for my last fun family vacation before little man makes his appearance; waiting, waiting and more waiting. Does anyone have advice of things Bean Pole and I should be doing before we are blessed with baby? I would also love to see any maternity photos that you moms might be willing to share! Shoot me an email with them at BAR7784@yahoo.com.

About this Column

While trying to think of a creative way to introduce myself, the theme song to The Addams Family began playing in my head. While I can be “kooky,” I am not so sure I’m “spooky” or even “ooky” for that matter—whatever that may mean. I’ll look it up later.

My name is Brooke. I’m 28 years young and married to the love of my life (we’ll call him Bean Pole for future reference, because he’s really tall and kind of looks like Michael Phelps. I, however, am really, really short and, unfortunately, do not resemble anyone famous.)

We got married in September 2011 and are expecting a baby in January. We recently found out we are having a boy—which is good because Bean Pole, I am fairly confident, would send the baby back if he were a girl.

Meanwhile, I’m already a mommy to two beautiful miniature pinscher/toy terrier mixes, Zoey and Roost. I would save all the animals of the world if Bean Pole would let me but, alas, I am only allowed two pups.

I graduated from HACC with a degree in Humanities/Language and the Arts. I love music and musical theatre, and I love supporting my family and friends in their hobbies and interests. I really enjoy spending time with all of my family. I can’t wait to get to know you and your families as I share my experiences in being an expectant and new mother and, hopefully, you will leave comments or drop me a line now and then with your stories.
