Bike & Hike set

Sep 5, 2012 - 09:24 AM

The 16th annual COBYS Bike & Hike is set 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Lititz Church of the Brethern.

The Bike & Hike is COBYS’ signature event and it includes a 3-mile walk through Lititz, 10- and 25-mile bicycle rides around Lititz, plus a 65-mile motorcycle ride through Dutch Country.

The walk route includes Lititz Springs Park, while the 25-mile bike ride runs through beautiful scenery on rural roads around Lititz. The 10-mile bike ride is flatter on a road between Manheim and Lititz. The motorcycle route will cross the Susquehanna River, plus landmarks such as the Columbia/Wrightsville Bridge, Lauxmont Farms and views of the river at Long Level and Sam Lewis State Park.

The cost for walkers and bicyclists is $20 in advance or $25 that day; motorcyclists can ride for $35 per cycle and $25 for an additional rider.

All money raised will support the ministries of COBYS, which includes adoption and foster care services, counseling for children and adults, and family life education.

This year’s goal is $100,000.
