YWCA hosts domestic violence awareness workshop

Oct 23, 2012 - 08:43 AM

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg is hosting an open house tonight from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to showcase victims’ services, professional trainings and prevention education programs.

According to a 2011 report by the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 4 women has been a victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in her lifetime. Tonight’s family-friendly event aims to educate the public about the services available to victims.

The YWCA encourages more people to wear the purple ribbon to highlight Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
