Got a great doctor?

Oct 4, 2012 - 08:06 AM

Does your family have a physician who has gone above and beyond in caring for your needs? Do you know a dentist who takes the dread out of maintaining your smile? Or maybe you’ve got a pharmacist who has saved you from serious drug interactions between two prescriptions.

If you know an outstanding healthcare provider, tell us about him or her!

Nominations for the Sixth Annual Central Penn Parent Healthcare Heroes award are being accepted.

The event honors and recognizes health care professionals in Central Pennsylvania who have influenced patients in special ways.

Anyone can nominate their heroes in any of the 11 categories, ranging from Physician of the Year to Pharmacy Hero.

The awards will be presented during a breakfast ceremony April 5 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey. “The Healthcare Heroes awards event is unique in that healthcare professionals and caregivers are able to be publicly recognized for their lifelong commitment to others,” said Jamie Mowery, event coordinator. “Healthcare is an industry that affects everyone, and this is a chance to thank these professionals who have impacted so many lives.”

The event has added a key category—Breast Cancer Caregiver of the Year—for any healthcare provider who has provided support to patients battling breast cancer.

Nominating a provider is easy. Nominees must currently be in the position they are nominated for—except for lifetime awards.

Each nomination includes a description of why you believe the nominee should win the award. Judges select winners from all nominations. “You will find that this event is very touching and personal,” Mowery added. “Healthcare is such a huge part of our lives, but it is often overlooked, which is why this is event is important.”
