4-H Clubs to hold annual fair
The Penn State Extension of Dauphin County’s 4-H Clubs will host an annual fair Aug. 1 through 4 at the state Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. The fair is free and open to the public Wednesday from 6-9 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This year’s fair will commemorate the Centennial of Pennsylvania 4-H and encourage citizens to become involved in 4-H Youth Development. Animals—including pigs, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, horses and more—will be available for children to pet. Club members and leaders will be available to answer questions.
A livestock show will be Thursday and a horse show will be held Friday and Saturday. Other events include an ice cream social, fashion show, animal skillathon, family living skillathon and “Over the Hill” Competition, which gives past 4-H families a chance to relive their 4-H days. Friday will also be 4-H Alumni Day, during which former members are encouraged to attend.
The fair will conclude with the large animal clover competition and awards ceremony Saturday.
