Former Eagles star Herm Edwards to speak at Shippensburg

ESPN analyst and former Philadelphia Eagle Herm Edwards is bringing his charismatic personality to Shippensburg University.

The former NFL coach will give a lecture on the topic of “Your Life Plan” Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. as part of Ship’s H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Excel) Diversity Scholarship Program. There will also be a reception and dinner at 4:45 p.m.

Edwards is known for his energetic and enthusiastic attitude as he breaks down games and players on ESPN. The Fort Monmouth, N.J., native played for 10 years from 1977-1986, mostly with the Eagles. He played on Philly’s lone Super Bowl team, as well as made one of the team’s most iconic tackles.

After his playing career, Edwards started coaching, first as an assistant for San Jose State, Kansas City and Tampa Bay and later as the head coach of the New York Jets. He also had a short stint in Kansas City in 2006.

Edwards has always been seen as a positive role model as he is known for his faith and philanthropic endeavors.
