Whitaker Center set to offer two free weekend events
Whitaker Center is offering a pair of free events this weekend in conjuction with its summer exhibition, Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion.
On Saturday at 1:30 p.m., families can come to Leonardo da Vinci’s War Machines: 500 Years Later in America’s Armed Forces inside Stage Two of Whitaker Center. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel David Bottomlee, currently of the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, will give a presentation on the military’s transition from da Vinci’s work to present day weapons and technology. Bottomlee will also discuss the strategic lessons learned from da Vinci’s work.
On Sunday at 2 p.m. families can check out Robot Design & Invention inside the Kunkel Gallery.
Dauphin County Techinical School’s F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Team, Normality Zero, will present a talk about the connections between da Vinci’s machines and the technology the team uses in robotics. One of the teams robot inventions will be on display.
