WITF to host kindergarten event
As the school year inches closer, the anxiety for many children continues to grow, especially for the ones starting school for the first time this year.
To help ease the transition, WITF is holding its second Ready Set Go… Kindergarten! event at its Public Media Center, 4801 Lindle Road, Harrisburg. Ready Set Go… Kindergarten! will be Aug. 11 at 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and is free and provides families with information to help kids prepare for kindergarten.
The event features appearances by Clifford the Big Red Dog, the Cat in the Hat and Curious George. Kids can also sit in a real school bus, dance with the Central Pa. Youth Ballet and make a memory tile with Color Me Mine.
Visitors can also see some animals from ZooAmerica and learn about injury prevention from Penn State Milton S. Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Parents can learn about child development, child care, pedestrian and vehicle safety and nutrition.
Families are encouraged to come early because while supplies last, children will receive a “Class of 2025” cinch bag, free books and other school-related materials.
