We print 20,000 copies of Capabilities. They are distributed directly to healthcare professionals, Intermediate Units, specialists, educators, caregivers and other service providers who have direct contact with parents of children with special needs. Single-copy subscriptions are also mailed directly to families who have requested delivery. (Subscriptions are available on Central Penn Parent's "Shop" page.)

Capabilities Magazine is a resource for parents who have children with special needs. Published twice a year -- once in the spring and once in the fall -- it is Central Pennsylvania's only magazine for special needs families.
The first issue debuted in the fall of 2008 and was planned as an annual magazine. Repsonse was so swift and so positive that we immediate decided to publish it bi-annually.
Capabilities focuses on stories about real people and real successes. In each issue, we profile local families who are thriving despite the challenges they face. We also cover topics surrounding legal issues, health care, financial planning and education. The combination of human interest stories with practical information has been very successful.
We are so grateful to the people who share their advice, insights, experiences and memories with us. It is our pleasure to work with families and professionals as we create each issue of Capabilities. Without their stories and expertise, the magazine would not exist.
Capabilities is proudly published by the Central Penn Parent team.
The spring 2011 issue included a special section dedicated to transition options for young adults with special needs: careers, independent living, higher education.
The winter 2010 issue included articles about the challenges of leukemia, epilepsy, spina bifida, autism and terminal illness.
In 2010, we sponsored Central Pennsylvania's largest special needs resource fair, connecting families to the resources they need.
