Sale hours are Friday, Oct. 24, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, 8:30-10:30 a.m. (half-price sale) and 11 a.m. to noon (bag sale). All proceeds from the sale benefit YWCA programs. Native Americans Along the Susquehanna

This event occurs daily, every weekday.

Students and home schoolers in grades 2-6 explore how Indians once lived in the Fort Hunter/Harrisburg area. Students will furnish a wigwam, make a piece of pottery and participate in storytelling. Guided tours of Fort Hunter Mansion invite students to learn about Mansion life in the 1800s, comparing the owner’s life to the lives of the Native Americans. Pre-registration is required.

Pumpkin Glow at Hershey Gardens

See more than 150 jack-o-lanterns and a variety of gourds and whimsical scarecrows! Children can wind their way throughout the lit gardens, trick-or-treat, listen to storytelling and collect candy treats. Kids ages 12 and under are encouraged to bring flashlights and come in costume. Watch live pumpkin-carving demonstrations, too!

Mysterious, Melancholy and Macabre

Enjoy chilling tales from classic Gothic literature in the shadow of 200-year-old buildings. The Monkey's Paw, a story of a cursed gift, Poe's Tell Tale Heart, and other classics will be feature. This program is developed with the Student Historians and other teen volunteers. Advance reservations suggested, call the Visitor Center after Sept. 15.
