Daily News Smithsonian’s annual Museum Day offers FREE admission to many area attractions on Sept. 21 By: Central Penn Parent August 30, 2019 Museums, zoos and cultural attractions across the nation will open their doors for free on Saturday, September 21, 2019, for Smithsonian magazine’s annual Museum Day. Guests who download a ticket can visit participating establishments for free—emulating the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day. Now in its 15th year, Museum Day will also celebrate the Smithsonian Year of Music, an institution-wide initiative commemorating the Smithsonian’s vast musical collections and resources through 365 days of music-related programming. The Smithsonian has encouraged participating museums to create programming to support this initiative and highlight the world’s rich musical heritage. There are more than 1,500 museums and attractions expected to participate in Museum Day this year. To download a free ticket, go to smithsonian.com/museumdaylive; you can also click on each museum name below to link directly to that attraction’s downloadable ticket. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free access to the museum on September 21. One ticket is permitted per email address.
