September in Hershey is a time to celebrate as it’s the month Milton Hershey was born. In honor of the chocolate icon’s birthday, The Hershey Story Museum will host a community celebration full of music and chocolate.

Thursday, Sept. 13, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Milton Hershey’s Birthday Celebration, ChocolateTown Square (across from The Hershey Story Museum at the intersection of Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues.
The Hershey Company will share the launch of a new Hershey’s campaign for the community to take part. Visitors can bring their lawn chairs or blanket and enjoy a performance of music reminiscent of Mr. Hershey’s era by The Tunesters of Central Pennsylvania. The celebration concludes with birthday cupcakes donated by Milton Hershey School and milk chocolate bars courtesy of The Hershey Company. Note: In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held in the Grand Lobby of The Hershey Story.

Preschool Story Time: Milton Hershey, The Hershey Story Museum
Preschoolers will explore themes through pictures and stories, followed by a simple craft. Recommended for children ages 3 through 5 accompanied by an adult caregiver. Preschool Story Time will be held in the museum’s lower-level classroom.
Saturday, Sept. 22, 9-10:30 a.m.
Sensory-Friendly Chocolate Lab Class, The Hershey Story Museum
FREE; $5 if molding a chocolate bar.
Guests with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory-related sensitivities, and their families and caregivers, can experience the Chocolate Lab in a relaxed setting. The Chocolate Lab will offer walk-up activities, such as cocoa nib tasting, grinding cocoa nibs with mortar and pestles, and touching real cocoa beans and cocoa pods. Guests will also be given the opportunity to mold a milk chocolate bar; a $5 fee applies for this activity. Separate admission fees apply to The Museum Experience, special exhibit and Tastings: Chocolate from Around the World.
